Privacy First: Our Commitment to Your Data

The Fairway Team · January 24, 2026

At Fairway Footprint, privacy is not a feature. It is a foundation.

From the very beginning, we made a deliberate decision: your golf data belongs to you, and only you. Everything we build — from how accounts work to how course data is handled — is shaped around that principle.

This article explains our philosophy around privacy, trust, and responsible data handling, and why it matters to us as golfers ourselves.

Built by Golfers, Designed for Respect

Fairway Footprint was created by golfers who wanted a better way to track their own journey. That personal origin shaped our approach early on.

We didn’t want a platform that pressured users to share data, compete publicly, or turn personal performance into social currency. Golf is personal. Your rounds, your progress, and your experiences should remain under your control.

That belief drives every privacy decision we make.

Privacy by Default, Not by Settings

Many platforms treat privacy as something you configure after signing up. We chose the opposite approach.

All social and public features in Fairway Footprint are disabled by default. Nothing about your profile, rounds, or activity is visible to others unless you explicitly enable it.

You decide:

  • Whether your profile can be discovered
  • Whether you appear on leaderboards
  • Whether you connect with friends
  • What name, if any, is shown to others

You can change these choices at any time, with immediate effect.

Data You Can Trust

Accurate data matters — especially when it comes to golf courses and statistics. While we use a combination of trusted sources, automation, and modern tooling to manage course information at scale, no single input is treated as unquestionable.

Course data is reviewed, cross-checked, and validated before it becomes part of the experience. Where uncertainty exists, we err on the side of caution rather than assumption.

We also make use of intelligent systems to help identify inconsistencies and improve quality over time — always with human oversight and clear rules in place.

The goal is simple: reliable information without shortcuts.

Minimal Collection, Purpose-Driven Use

We only collect information that is necessary to provide the core experience of the app.

Your data is used to:

  • Secure and manage your account
  • Track and visualize your golf activity
  • Improve app performance and reliability
  • Enable optional features you explicitly choose to use

We do not sell personal data. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not treat your activity as a commodity.

If a feature doesn’t clearly benefit the user, it doesn’t belong.

Control, Transparency, and Choice

Trust requires more than good intentions — it requires clear control.

You can:

  • Update or remove your information at any time
  • Adjust visibility and privacy settings instantly
  • Delete your account directly from within the app

When an account is deleted, associated personal data is permanently removed from active systems in line with our policies and legal obligations.

No hidden steps. No unnecessary friction.

Designed for the Long Term

Fairway Footprint is built to last. That means resisting short-term gains that compromise user trust.

We believe privacy-first design is not only the right thing to do, but the only sustainable way to build a product golfers can rely on for years to come.

As the platform grows, this philosophy remains unchanged.

A Commitment We Stand Behind

Privacy and trust are not checkboxes — they are ongoing commitments.

We continuously review our practices, improve safeguards, and refine how we handle data as technology and expectations evolve. When changes are made, we aim to communicate them clearly and responsibly.

Fairway Footprint exists to help you document your golf journey — not to own it.

And that’s a promise we intend to keep.
